Job Description

Invesco Real Estate (“IRE”) is a global leader in the real estate investment management business with $91.1 billion in real estate assets under management, 586 employees and 21 regional offices across the U.S., Europe and Asia (as of March 31, 2023). IRE’s Platform Investments strategy invests across the capital structure in real estate-related operating companies and/or real estate GP entities in the U.S. Investments may be strategic or tactical in nature. Today, IRE has six (6) portfolio companies.

INREIT is a perpetual life fund with an income-oriented investment strategy that provides investors with monthly distributions. Since launching in September 2020, INREIT has grown to over $1bn in total assets and over $600m in net asset value, including investments in secular growth sectors (e.g. multifamily and industrial), demographic driven sectors (e.g. student housing, healthcare, and self-storage), and private credit

Your Role

The MBA intern will assist with the operations and management of Invesco’s platforms investments team and the public non-listed REIT product (INREIT) team. Among others, this intern will assist in the underwriting of new investment opportunities and management of existing portfolio companies. In addition to day-to-day deal work and investment management, the MBA intern will be required to submit a capstone project. Specifically, the Summer Associate will have to independently develop a thesis and underwrite a potential investment for presentation to the Platform Investments Committee.

What you would be responsible for:

Platform Investments Responsibilities

  • Assist in the valuation analysis of potential investments in real estate related operating companies
  • Work with the Senior Associate to build and maintain financial models
  • Produce presentations, IC memos, and other relevant documentation
  • Support the closing of captured investments by managing due diligence requirements
  • Interact with portfolio companies’ teams as needed for investment management purposes
  • Participate in operational and performance review updates to the Platform Investments Committee

INREIT Responsibilities

  • Improve and assist in portfolio and investment level analysis including performance and liquidity analysis
  • Work with internal and third-party stakeholders to ensure accurate flow of information and transaction execution
  • Participate in various investment committee and portfolio strategy meetings
  • Assist with monthly/quarterly reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience you bring:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an MBA or other graduate program, with a graduation date of May 2026
  • Previous full-time or internship experience in corporate finance, investment banking, and/or private equity preferred
  • Real estate experience is beneficial but not required
  • An understanding of corporate finance and relative value throughout the capital stack
  • Ability to work in a professional environment and handle multiple projects and deadlines at one time
  • Strong Excel user
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented

The hourly wage offered for this position will vary based on skills, experience and location. The hourly wage for this intern role is up to $50.00.
