Job Description:

As an Analyst, your objective and independent research on un-registered (i.e. private) primary funds as well as secondaries and direct co-investments. You will be responsible for evaluating investment vehicles across private market asset classes (i.e. private equity, private credit, and real assets), across markets (i.e. US, Europe, Asia), and across investment types (primary, secondary, co-investments). The position will be located in either New York or Newport Beach.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop clear opinions to support ratings on funds and other investment vehicles based on research that focuses on the funds’ investment team, philosophy, firm, performance, and the strategies opportunity set as well as other relevant metrics which vary by strategy.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis using that leverages our internally developed analytics platform and ranking system.
  • Document meeting notes, manager memos, watchlist criteria.
  • Develop expertise across all relevant asset classes covered.
  • Assist with alternatives and manager research related thought leadership.

Experience / Knowledge: 

  • 3+ years of experience covering investment vehicles focused on private markets at a family office, investment consultant, pension, endowment, or asset manager.
  • Preferably, significant experience focused on direct investment and/or co-investments as well as secondaries.
  • Multi-asset experience (i.e. private equity, private credit, real assets)
  • Additionally, strong preference for experience across public and private markets.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills

Formal Education: 

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • MBA and/or CFA preferred.
  • The salary range for this position in Newport Beach and New York City is $125,000 - $150,000 / year. The total compensation offered for this position includes salary and incentive pay and will vary based on skills, experience and location.
