UCLA vs. USC Real Estate Challenge

2021 NAIOP SoCal USC vs UCLA Real Estate Challenge Goes Virtual on March 4

NAIOP SoCal will hold its much anticipated USC Trojans vs UCLA Bruins Real Estate Challenge on March 4 in a virtual format. Each year five-member graduate student teams from the Ziman Center of Real Estate at UCLA’s Anderson School of Business and the Lusk Center at USC’s Marshall School of Business and Price School of Public Policy compete head-to-head to determine the highest and best use for a unique parcel of land.

The 2021 competition site is the Greyhound Bus Terminal in downtown Los Angeles, owned by Prologis. This 8.3-acre site is located at the entrance to the Arts District and adjacent to several significant redevelopment projects in an evolving urban renaissance. To claim victory and the sought-after Silver Shovel, the winning team must determine the highest and best use for the property and accrue the most points from the judging panel during written and oral presentations. Each student team spends six weeks in intensive research and preparation before presenting their cases.

“This year’s site provides unique challenges to the teams in that it is an opportunity to reimagine a long-held transportation site and repurpose it for the next era of downtown LA. This event affords so much exposure to the students and their work. I can’t wait to see what they create,” said Eric Paulsen, event emcee and chair, NAIOP SoCal USC vs UCLA Real Estate Challenge.

The event will begin at 5:30 pm on March 4. In addition to student presentations, there will be a message from UCLA Team Captain Valorie Kondos Field "Miss Val" and USC Team Captain Clay Helton. To register for the online event, Click HERE.
